Similarly if it is used beyond the limits it can lead to headaches, insomnia and heart palpitations. It can increase blood pressure too.
  • Hawthorn
    If taken with digoxin, a heart medication may lower heart rate to a considerably larger degree.
  • Garlic
    This is considered safest of all herbs has been found to interfere with the effectiveness of saquinavir, a drug used to treat HIV infection and caused side effects like body odor, heartburn, upset stomach, and allergic reactions. It has therefore been recommended to people with problems like angina, hypertension and heart failure. But a new study carried out at John Hopkins suggests a harmful role for the amino acid.
  • Betel Nuts
    They cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, high or low blood pressure, and irregular heart beats. The effects of anticholinergic drugs may decrease when used in combination with betel nut or its constituent arecoline. Use with cholinergic drugs may cause toxicity (salivation, increased tearing, incontinence, sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, or fever).
  • Ephedra
    This should not be used by people with blood pressure, diabetes or thyroid disease.
  • Licorice
    Its excessive amounts may cause fluid retention and high blood pressure.
  • Yohimbe
    The side effects of this include nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, palpitations, insomnia and tremors.
